Today, I am going to be approaching a quickly growing internet universe that you may or may not have heard of: Pinterest! Some people have said that it stands for P-interest (Personal Interest), others say that it’s a play on word for pinning what interests you. I like to say that it’s a mix of everything…BRILLIANT!
If you don’t already know what Pinterest is: According to wikipedia: Pinterest is a pinboard-styled social photo sharing website. The service allows users to create and manage theme-based image collections. The site’s mission statement is to “connect everyone in the world through the ‘things’ they find interesting.” Pinterest is managed by Cold Brew Labs, a team based in Palo Alto, California. The website has proven especially popular among women. Basically, it’s a place to organize websites and blogs without cluttering up your “favorites” bar.
So, while it hasn’t been around for too long, the idea of pinterest as a social network is growing FAST! I have already heard of quite a few people who have given up facebook in light of this pinterest thing, and like anything else, you can find a TON of information online about how to use it to your advantage.
With the fast growing popularity, and the ease with which to use it, pinterest can very well become your social network of choice. However, you have to have the right brand, keeping in mind that popular pins are diy crafts, decor, VERY unique products, and wish-lists (weddings/babies/etc.)
